Holding forth at Learning to Lead: A Three Day Series on Leadership in Academic Libraries

Holding forth at Learning to Lead: A Three Day Series on Leadership in Academic Libraries
Day 1: Leading
Day 2: Leading & Following
Day 3: Coaching for Results: Helping Others

The photos above and below show some of the beautiful setting in which I taught:
The Small Aula
at The University of Latvia
Riga, Latvia
December 6, 7, and 8, 2006

Also in these pictures is my translator, Rasma Mozere. I appreciated her ability to adjust to the unpredictability of how each activity would play out and what the questions and observations might be. Directly below is the introduction to a six person role play on leading and following.

Standing on right in the left picture, is my sponsor and Director of the University of Latvia Libraries, Iveta Gudakovska. Iveta collaborated with Latvia’s Culture Information Systems agency to underwrite the costs of the three day event. She told me that her brief as Director at the national university includes staff training and development for librarians inside and outside the University. The other picture shows Elita Ozolina getting some needed elevation.

Measuring, with help, one of the “pyramids”

Measuring, with help, one of the “pyramids” – this one stands out for not using any scotch tape – one of the resources supplied for this team building activity! The “no tape” approach was the first in my experience. Throughout the three days I was inspired by the participants freshness and innovation in approaching problems and challenges.
